(+)-Rhododendrol

Application: One of the mechanisms to inhibit melanin production is to inhibit tyrosinase. Tyrosinase can oxidize tyrosine, one of the essential amino acids, to form DOPA, which is then converted by the enzyme and finally aggregated to form melanin. Rhododendrol can replace tyrosine as the starting point and inhibit the catalytic action of the enzyme.
