Sodium dichloroisocyanurate

Sodium dichloroisocyanurate

Cas number:2893-78-9

Appearance:white powder

Grade:industrial grade

White crystalline powder with a strong chlorine smell, containing 60% to 64.5% effective chlorine. It is stable. When stored in hot and humid areas, the effective chlorine content only drops by about 1%. It is easily soluble in water with a solubility of 25% (25°C). The solution is weakly acidic, and the pH of its 1% aqueous solution is 5.8 to 6.0. The pH changes little with increasing concentration. It dissolves in water to produce hypochlorous acid, and its hydrolysis constant is 1×10-4, which is higher than that of chloramine T. The stability of the aqueous solution is poor, and the loss of effective chlorine is accelerated under the action of ultraviolet rays. A low concentration can quickly kill various bacterial propagules, fungi, and viruses, and is particularly effective against hepatitis viruses. It has the characteristics of high chlorine content, strong bactericidal effect, simple process, and low price. Sodium dichloroisocyanurate has low toxicity and better bactericidal effect than bleaching powder and chloramine-T. Chlorine fumigants or acid chlorine fumigants can be made by mixing metal reducing agents or acid synergists with potassium permanganate and sodium dichloroisocyanurate dry powder. This type of fumigant produces a gas with a strong bactericidal effect when ignited.
