Stevioside
Stevioside, commonly known as stevioside, is the sweet ingredient in stevia. It is popular for its non-toxic, safe and low-calorie characteristics and is known as the world’s third source of sugar. Stevioside is a mixture of 8 glycosides composed of the same diterpene ligand. It does not contain sugar and calories; it is white to slightly yellow in color, has a suitable taste and no odor, and is a new source of sugar with broad development prospects. Stevioside is a sweetener that has been discovered in the world and approved for use by the Ministry of Health of my country. It has a natural low caloric value and is very close to the taste of sucrose. It is the third natural sweetener with development value and health promotion after sugarcane and beet sugar, and is known as the “world’s third source of sugar” internationally. Stevioside is widely used in the food industry as a food sweetener and preservative to make high-sweetness, low-calorie, low-salt, and anti-caries foods.
